An Israeli Air Force drone crashed inside Iranian territory during an operational mission, the IDF confirmed Thursday. While no casualties were reported and there is no concern over information leakage, Iran has claimed responsibility for downing the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), releasing footage from the Isfahan region that shows the wreckage.

Israel has confirmed that a medium-sized Hermes attack drone fell in Iran. Authorities are investigating whether it was deliberately shot down or crashed due to a technical malfunction. The IDF Spokesperson stated that during an operational activity, surface-to-air missiles were fired at an Air Force drone. The aircraft fell in Iran, there are no casualties and no concern about information leakage.

The incident has sparked a wave of speculation, with analysts questioning Tehran’s version of events. According to regional commentator Abu Ali, the condition of the drone in the video suggests a technical malfunction may have caused the crash, rather than a successful interception by Iranian air defenses. The Israeli military has not publicly commented on the cause of the UAV’s fall.

Unfortunately, the downing of the Hermes drone in Isfahan exposed the weapon system and the types of missiles mounted on its wings ("Sagol" — details not disclosed), but it is no longer possible to hide when it's in the hands of the enemy.

In the past week, the Air Force has successfully deployed dozens of drones over Iranian skies, targeting surface-to-surface missile launchers and Iranian air defense personnel with air defense systems.
