An Israeli tourist, Stav Ben-Shushan, was violently attacked while vacationing at Bolivar Beach on the Athenian Riviera, resulting in a severe ear injury, according to a report by Channel 12 news. Ben-Shushan, speaking from a hospital in Greece, recounted that the incident began when a man, identified by the victim as Syrian, filmed him and his wife while shouting, “Free Palestine, fuck Israel, I am Hamas.”

The altercation escalated after the man threw sand at another Israeli couple nearby, prompting Ben-Shushan to intervene by shoving the assailant. Security guards separated the parties and removed the attacker from the beach. However, approximately an hour later, the man returned and appeared to target Ben-Shushan’s wife. When Ben-Shushan stepped in to protect her, the assailant attacked him, causing significant injury to his ear.

Greek police arrested Ben-Shushan following the incident, based on the attacker’s claim that the Israeli tourist made racist remarks. The event marks the third reported anti-Israeli incident in Greece this week, following an attack on Israeli teenagers in Rhodes and a protest that blocked an Israeli-owned cruise ship from docking in Syros. These incidents have raised concerns about rising anti-Israeli sentiment in the region. Posts on X expressed outrage, with some users labeling the attack as antisemitic and criticizing the arrest of the victim.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry has not yet issued a statement, and Greek authorities are investigating. Further details are pending.
