“We recommend avoiding strenuous outdoor activities and using sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses,” a spokesperson from Israel’s Ministry of Health stated.

Summer in the Capital: What to Expect

While Jerusalem is known for its dry, desert climate, this week’s high-pressure system and clear skies make for above-average summer heat, even by local standards. With no rainfall or cloud cover to break the heat, the city will rely on breezes in the afternoons to provide limited relief.

Public parks and shaded spaces, including the Jerusalem Forest and Sacher Park, are expected to see increased foot traffic, especially in the early mornings and late evenings.

What do you need to do to beat the heat in Jerusalem

Drink plenty of water, even if you're not thirsty

Avoid coffee, alcohol, and sugary drinks during the day

Wear light-colored, breathable clothing

Stay in air-conditioned spaces when possible

Check on elderly neighbors and vulnerable individuals

As the heatwave stretches across the week, officials continue to monitor conditions and urge the public to remain cautious. While sunny skies offer the perfect backdrop for summer outings, heat-related risks are real and preventable with the right precautions.
