A 20-year-old Arab terrorist from East Jerusalem was arrested by Israeli security forces after he planned to carry out a vehicular and stabbing attack at a bus stop at a central intersection in the city.
According to the information that was allowed to be published, a terrorist from East Jerusalem planned to carry out the attack, prepared pipe bombs and purchased knives. The attack was thwarted in the early stages of planning.
East Jerusalem has been a source for terrorism in the past. The Jerusalem District Court filed a prosecutor's statement several monthss ago against a 32-year-old resident of Jerusalem’s Isawiya neighborhood suspected of collaborating with Hezbollah.
The suspect faces imminent indictment for contacting a foreign agent and committing severe security offenses, with his detention extended pending further proceedings.
