Jewish extremists torch IDF base, damage key security system | WATCH
Critical IDF site set ablaze by Jewish rioters in the Binyamin region; dramatic video captures barrier breach and takeover of military vehicles.
During the riots that broke out last night (between Sunday and Monday) near the brigade headquarters in Binyamin, in protest against the severe shooting incident on Saturday night, where a boy was injured and hit by IDF forces - the demonstrators targeted a vital security site.
It began with a heated demonstration in front of the brigade headquarters in Binyamin. The protesters, residents from the surrounding settlements, along with youth from the settlement core on the hill, protested demanding to bring the shooting officer to justice. The demonstrators also warned that "the dangerous backing that the system provides for the shooting that was carried out endangers the lives of all settlers and could result in loss of life."
According to an IDF spokesperson, "During the night, several Israeli civilians ignited and vandalized a security site that contains systems that help thwart attacks and maintain security in the Binyamin Brigade area. Harming this site poses a danger to the safety of the residents."
The IDF added: "The IDF condemns any manifestation of violence against security forces and expects security forces to take action against Israelis who harm security forces performing their duty to protect the security of Israeli citizens...The IDF and all security forces will continue to focus on ensuring the safety of citizens while enforcing the law and preventing any illegal activity."
In footage from the scene, published this morning by the IDF spokesperson, the sensitive security facility is seen scorched and burned. Many in the political system, including on the right, condemn what occurred.

Chairman of the National Camp Benny Gantz said: "The event we saw tonight, which joins a severe wave of other incidents, begins with a dangerous tailwind for violence and Jewish terror, which is actually blowing from government ministers. From the deliberate weakening of the police, from attacks on the Shin Bet and the IDF instead of on the rioters. Weak condemnations will not stop the violence – only actions."
Chairman of Religious Zionism, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, in response to last night's violent events: "Criminals are criminals are criminals. Everywhere in the country. Violence against IDF soldiers and beloved Israeli police officers and vandalism are unacceptable and constitute a crossing of a red line. I call on the Israeli police to investigate the events with determination and hold those responsible accountable. Settlement in Judea and Samaria is the beautiful face of the State of Israel and there is no connection between it and the events reported this morning."
The Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir: "Attacks on security forces, security facilities, and IDF soldiers who are our sons, our brothers, and our defenders, are a red line, and they must be dealt with with full severity. We are brothers."
