Edelstein Will Submit the Agreed Draft Law Text Tomorrow; Expected to Pass - Within the Coming Weeks
The coalition is preparing to pass the law by the end of the summer session, which ends in less than a month.

Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Knesset Member Yoel (Yuli) Edelstein, is expected to submit tomorrow (Thursday) the draft law text agreed upon by the heads of the ultra-Orthodox factions. This is what we are revealing now for the first time.
'Kikar Hashabbat' has learned that Edelstein updated senior members of the ultra-Orthodox factions that he intends to submit to them as early as tomorrow the draft law text, based on the principles agreed upon about three weeks ago, at the end of the dramatic discussions that preceded the vote on dissolving the Knesset in a preliminary reading.
'Kikar Hashabbat' has also learned that the coalition intends, at the demand of the ultra-Orthodox factions and in coordination with Knesset Member Edelstein, to accelerate the discussion in the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee in order to finish the discussions on the agreed law text - within the next two weeks, and then pass the law in second and third readings in the Knesset plenum - during the current summer session which ends in less than a month.
However, it should be noted that after the publication of the law text, the heads of the ultra-Orthodox factions will need to pass the text for approval by the councils of Torah sages and scholars, while in the background pressure is being applied by senior rabbis against the law text which includes recruitment targets of 50% of the recruitment cycle within 4 years and personal and institutional economic sanctions.
It should be noted that if indeed the law passes in the coming month, then Knesset Member Yitzhak Goldknopf is expected to return to his position as Housing Minister, and Eichler will be forced to part with the minister's office less than a month after entering it.
