Former Defense Minister and Yisrael Beytenu party leader Avigdor Liberman called today (Wednesday) on X to investigate the massive wildfires raging in Israel as possible arsons.

On his post, he wrote:

"In the past, we have already seen waves of arson motivated by nationalist reasons, encouraged by terrorist elements. Today we also see incitements on social networks from Palestinian terrorists calling to continue setting fires and harming the state. I call on the Israeli government to seriously investigate who is behind the fires and to deal with it resolutely. We must not turn a blind eye to this type of terrorism."

Meanwhile, fires continue to rage in the broader Jerusalem area and beyond as most official Independence Day ceremonies have been cancelled, as firefighters work hard and gather all the assistance they can to try and contain the blazes.
