Maccabi Health Services members woke up this Tuesday to a major digital disruption after the HMO’s website, mobile app, and call center were knocked offline due to a power outage at infrastructure provider Bezeq International.

As of 7:30 a.m., representatives at Maccabi’s service center reported they were unable to access patient files, leaving millions of members without digital support. The outage is nationwide, though Maccabi emphasized that doctors, clinics, and laboratories are operating as usual.

“Maccabi’s medical teams are treating patients without interruption, but digital and call center services are temporarily down,” the HMO confirmed. “The fault is being handled by technical staff and external providers, and we expect full restoration later this morning.”

Maccabi is Israel’s second-largest health fund, insuring 2.7 million members, behind Clalit’s 5.4 million. In recent years, it has positioned itself as a leader in digital healthcare, with members relying heavily on its online systems for booking appointments, receiving lab results, obtaining prescriptions, and managing communications with physicians.

On this Tuesday morning, however, all of those services were unavailable, a reminder of the health fund’s growing dependence on digital platforms.
