Is National Insurance Institute (Bituach Leumi) Funding Terrorists?
Israel's National Insurance Institute (Bituach Leumi) issues official statement rejecting allegations of terrorist funding, emphasizing strict compliance with security protocols.
The National Insurance Institute (NII), known in Israel as Bituach Leumi, issued an unusual public statement on this Thursday, strongly denying claims that it transfers funds to terrorists.
“Over the years, certain interest groups have sought to target the National Insurance Institute, alleging that it transfers money to terrorists. Let’s put an end to this: the NII does not provide funds to terrorists or individuals involved in terrorism under any circumstances,” the statement read.
The NII emphasized that it coordinates with Israel’s security agencies to determine who qualifies as a terrorist, ensuring alignment between civil and security measures.
The statement further clarified that the NII provides benefits in accordance with the law and criticized calls to deny payments to non-residents, including foreign tourists or migrant workers injured in Israel.
“If anyone wants to change these rules, it is the responsibility of the Knesset to amend legislation. Meanwhile, the NII will continue to operate in full compliance with the law,” the institute said.
The public declaration stresses the NII’s stance against spreading unsubstantiated claims and seeks to end ongoing misinformation campaigns.
