Netzah Yehuda Soldier Survives Hamas Ambush in Gaza: “We Won’t Break”
A wounded soldier from the Netzah Yehuda Battalion vows to continue fighting after a deadly Hamas ambush in Gaza killed five comrades and injured 14, highlighting the ongoing dangers faced by IDF forces. The incident, the worst since late June, has fueled national grief and calls for stronger action against terrorism.

Yedidya Boskovitz, a soldier in the Kfir Brigade’s Netzah Yehuda Battalion, recounted today the harrowing ambush in Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza, from his hospital bed, where he is recovering from light shrapnel wounds. The attack, which occurred at 10:00 PM IDT on July 6, killed five of his comrades and injured 14 others, two seriously, marking the deadliest incident in Gaza since a June 22, 2025, explosion in Khan Yunis claimed seven IDF lives.
Boskovitz described the chaos, stating, “It was a terrible night, evacuation under fire, my friends were killed, I was wounded by shrapnel.” Despite the tragedy, he remained resolute, declaring, “We won’t break, we will keep going with full force in our fight against evil and terrorists. Netzah Yehuda is a battalion of heroes. May my friends’ memories be a blessing.”
The fallen soldiers, all from the haredi Netzah Yehuda Battalion, were Staff Sergeant Meir Shimon Amar, 20, from Jerusalem; Sergeant Moshe Nissim Frech, 20, from Jerusalem; Staff Sergeant First Class (res.) Benyamin Asulin, 28, from Haifa; Staff Sergeant Noam Aharon Musgadian, 20, from Jerusalem; and Staff Sergeant Moshe Shmuel Noll, 21, from Beit Shemesh. The incident unfolded as the battalion advanced on foot near tanks and engineering vehicles, entering a field rigged with explosive devices that detonated, followed by gunfire in a coordinated Hamas ambush. IDF forces evacuated the wounded under fire, with two soldiers airlifted to Soroka Medical Center in critical condition.
The attack, attributed to Hamas’s Beit Hanoun Brigade, underscores the ongoing intensity of Gaza operations, with 886 IDF fatalities since October 7, 2023, when Hamas’s attack killed 1,200 and abducted 251. Public mourning has intensified, with X posts calling the soldiers “fallen heroes defending Israel against terror.” The IDF is investigating the ambush, amid stalled ceasefire talks in Doha.
