White smoke has been burned in the Vatican, letting the world know a new Pope has been chosen.
White smoke has risen from Vatican City in Italy today (Thursday), telling the world that a new Pope has been chosen to lead the billion Catholics around the world, after Pope Francis passed away due to illness.
The Catholic Church's Vatican News said on X that "the 133 Cardinal electors gathered in the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel have elected the new Pope. He will appear soon at the central window of St. Peter’s Basilica."
