Operation "Safe Return": First evacuation ship brings Israelis safely to Ashdod | WATCH
The Crown Iris docks in Ashdod with 2,000 relieved Israelis rescued from Cyprus after Iran conflict halted air travel.
One week after the conflict with Iran began, the cruise ship Crown Iris docked at Ashdod Port this morning (Friday), bringing home about 2,000 Israelis evacuated from Cyprus.
Operated by Mano Shipping, the Crown Iris sailed from Limassol as part of the “Safe Return” operation, a coordinated effort between the Ministry of Transportation, Shipping and Ports Authority, Home Front Command, and shipping companies. This initiative was launched after Israeli airspace was closed due to the ongoing conflict with Iran.
Transportation Minister Miri Regev greeted the returning citizens at the port, saying, “The ‘Safe Return’ operation is a national mission and a symbol of Israeli mutual responsibility. We continue to act vigorously, with all the tools and means at our disposal, to bring Israeli citizens home safely.”
