Russia issued a stark warning to Israel on Friday, cautioning against any attempt to assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Moscow would respond “extremely negatively” to such an act, calling the possibility deeply alarming.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov addressed the possibility of the United States joining the war on Israel's side in a rare interview with the American network "Fox" last night, saying: "This is very concerning to us. It means an escalation of regional tensions."

Regarding the possibility of the U.S. using nuclear weapons in strikes against Iran, he stated: "This would be a catastrophic development, but I do not want to respond to various speculations that are circulating."

Concerning the possibility of an attack on Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Peskov said: "Our response to the assassination of Khamenei would be extremely negative." Earlier this week, Russia warned the United States against direct intervention in the war between Israel and Iran, amid reports that President Trump is considering joining the Israeli action and attacking the nuclear facility in Fordow.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov commented on the issue and said: "The United States is always at the center of all conflicts, and saying that once they did not interfere and now they are interfering is not accurate." U.S. President Trump has yet to decide whether to join the war alongside Israel. Ryabkov threatened the United States and said: "Regarding direct assistance to Israel during war, that is already a different matter. We warn Washington even against raising such options speculatively. It is a step that would severely destabilize the entire situation."
