New Law Proposal for Renewing IDs and Passports Online Without Leaving Home

The dislocations of the war and the shuttering of a number of Population Registry offices has led the Interior Ministry to temporarily make it possible to renew IDs and passports without leaving home - with a few conditions.

The evacuation of tens of thousands of civilians from the fronts in the south and north and the temporary shuttering of a number of Population Registry offices has led the Interior Ministry to submit a law proposal allowing Israeli citizens to renew their IDs and passports via the internet, according to Walla News.

The law proposal, if it passes, is a temporary order applicable for the coming half a year, with a possible extension for another half a year.

This renewal is only possible subject to a number of conditions:

Furthermore, an ID or passport ordered in this fashion will only be good for five years instead of the usual ten.
