Three Children Stung by Scorpions in Northern Israel Within 24 Hours
Three children were treated at Rambam Hospital after scorpion stings in northern Israel. Medical experts provide crucial safety guidelines for handling such incidents.

Three children from different parts of northern Israel were rushed by their parents to the pediatric emergency department at Rambam Hospital in Haifa over the past 24 hours after being stung by scorpions, the hospital said in a statement.
In the first case, a 9-year-old boy from Nesher was stung while hiking in a forest. In the second, a 9-year-old girl from a moshav in the Jezreel Valley was stung while playing in an indoor recreation hall after moving a mattress. In the third, a 2-year-old boy from Yokne’am was stung by a scorpion hiding under a mattress.
In all three cases, no special treatment was needed beyond medical observation, and the children were discharged home in good condition.
Doctors Urge Immediate Medical Attention
Pediatric ER physicians at Rambam stress that in the event of a scorpion sting, one should seek immediate medical care and avoid attempting to suck out the venom. If possible, take a photo of the sting site and the scorpion, but do not attempt to catch it.
They also advise not to apply a tourniquet, but to immobilize the affected limb and remove any jewelry. To reduce the risk of stings, check between mattresses, blankets, sleeping bags, and inside shoes before use.
