David Lammy, the newly appointed Foreign Secretary, reiterated his call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza in his first remarks as the country's top diplomat, as reported by the Jewish Chronicle. Lammy, 51, expressed his commitment to doing "everything possible" to achieve this goal.

Since October 7, Lammy's position on Israel has shifted, aligning with the views of numerous Labour party members. After the Hamas attacks, he joined the Labour front bench in condemning the incident as 'unprovoked.'

In April, Lammy emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza, expressing grave concerns about potential violations of international humanitarian law during Israel's offensive and lamenting the significant loss of life.
