A 42-year-old resident of Or Akiva has been arrested after allegedly desecrating a military grave and setting fire to an Israeli flag at a cemetery. Police from the Menashe District launched an intensive manhunt following reports of the incident over the weekend.

According to police, a report was received about a desecrated military grave in Or Akiva that showed clear signs of burning. Officers and investigators from the Hadera station arrived at the scene, collected forensic evidence, and used advanced technological tools to identify the suspect within hours.

The 42-year-old suspect was arrested, taken in for questioning, and later remanded in custody. Following a police request, the court extended his detention until Thursday, August 28, 2025, as the investigation continues.

Police emphasized that the act was considered both a criminal offense and a grave affront to the memory of Israel’s fallen soldiers
