Shlomi Lahiani

Shlomi Lahiani, the former mayor of Bat Yam, has been identified as the target of today's assassination attempt in Tel Aviv.

Over the past few years, Lahiani has narrowly escaped multiple attacks on his life. In June 2021, while he was overseas, an explosive device was attached to his vehicle, an incident believed to be linked to a business dispute. More recently, in January 2024, authorities reported the discovery of another explosive device placed near his car, coinciding with Lahiani’s renewed campaign for the Bat Yam mayoral position. Investigations into these incidents are ongoing as officials work to uncover the motives and perpetrators behind the repeated attempts on his life.
