Report: Finance Minister Smotrich operated mole within IDF senior command
Kann News reports that Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich is suspected of having operated a mole within IDF senior command, providing him with information unavailable to the cabinet.
Sources within the IDF and within the defense cabinet suspect that Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has a mole within the senior IDF command, which is providing him with information before it was made available to the cabinet and even the Prime Minister, according to a report today (Sunday) by Kann News.
According to the report, Smotrich, who is also a Minister Within The Defense Ministry, has arrived at a number of cabinet meetings armed with information from the IDF which did not yet reach the cabinet and even Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This information includes printed presentations straight from the IDF which even senior ministers were unaware of.
Reporter Suleiman Maswadeh says that the current person suspected to be the mole in question is Brig.-Gen. (res.) Erez Weiner, a central officer within IDF Southern Command, which is responsible for the fighting against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and a former assistant to ex-IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi.
As of right now, neither the IDF nor Weiner and Smotrich have responded to requests for comment.
