Communications Minister Dr. Shlomo Karhi sharply criticized the decision of the justice system to interrogate Zvika Klein, editor of the Jerusalem Post, for ties with people in Qatar despite the clear journalistic interest.

Here is his full statement:

Here's the English translation:

"Minister of Communications, Dr. Shlomo Karhi: Unlimited power corrupts. It begins with journalists under house arrest and will end with a full judicial coup. Any means are legitimate to seize power. The slope is very slippery, and the "rule of law" gang - the "gatekeepers" - are pouring oil on it.

"And where are Judge Melcer and the journalists' organizations? When they opened an unfounded investigation against the Prime Minister's advisors in order to thwart their own dismissal - you added fuel to the fire, and when a journalist who was doing his job is placed under house arrest - you remain silent. But make no mistake: when you are in the gang's crosshairs - there will be no one to protect you.

"You give them unlimited power in the media - and we will all pay the price, including you."
