IDF orders Shejaiya residents to evacuate as major operation begins

The IDF Spokesperson in Arabic, Avichai Edrei, appealed today (Thursday) to the residents of Shejaiya and other neighborhoods in the area, calling on them to evacuate their homes and move to shelters in western Gaza City. In his remarks, he warned that the IDF plans to act forcefully against the terrorist organizations in the region.

"This is an urgent and severe warning to the residents of the Gaza Strip who are in the Shejaiya area and in the neighborhoods of Al-Jadida, Al-Turkmen, Tasbiyah and Al-Zeitoun Al-Sharqi," Edrei said. "The IDF is preparing to act with great force in your area in order to destroy the terror infrastructure. For your safety, you must evacuate these areas immediately and move to the known shelters in the west of Gaza City."

This is the second eviction notice given to residents of the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours, after yesterday residents of Beit Hanoun, Jabaliya, and the neighborhoods of Tal al-Za'tar, al-Nur, al-Rawda, al-Salam, al-Nahda, al-Tufa, al-Zuhur, Sheikh Zeid, al-Manshiyya and Jabaliya were also ordered to evacuate their homes.

The evacuation order was given following the firing of rockets from the northern Gaza Strip at Israel, which were intercepted by the Israeli Air Force.
