Israel Wipes Out Senior Iranian General Saeed Izadi in Qom
Israeli airstrike kills top Iranian Quds Force commander Saeed Izadi in Qom. Izadi, key liaison to Hamas and accused of aiding the October 7 massacre, was a major target in Israel's campaign to disrupt Iran’s regional influence.

In a precision airstrike on Friday (June 20) Israeli forces killed Saeed Izadi, a senior commander of Iran’s Quds Force Palestine Corps, in an apartment in the heart of Qom, Iran, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced. The operation, hailed as a major coup for Israeli intelligence and the Israeli Air Force, targeted a key figure accused of orchestrating Hamas’ preparations for the October 7, 2023, massacre in Israel.
Izadi, designated a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the U.S. in 2019, was a pivotal link between Iran and Hamas. Documents seized in Gaza reveal he maintained close contact with senior Hamas officials from 2021, during Operation Guardian of the Walls, through 2023. As the primary liaison, he coordinated meetings between Hamas leaders abroad and Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, facilitating Iran’s support for the group.
According to the IDF, the materials reveal direct and recent coordination between Sinwar and Saeed Izadi, the head of the IRGC Quds Force’s Palestine Corps, who was killed last week in an Israeli strike in western Iran.
“These materials clearly show that Hamas’s military leadership maintained active ties with their Iranian sponsor, Saeed Izadi, even in recent months,” the IDF stated.
The documents detail two planned arms transfers: “Tufan 1,” in which Izadi sought to provide $21 million in weapons to Hamas, and “Tufan 2,” a follow-up plan to supply an additional $25 million in arms. Both operations, the IDF says, were ultimately thwarted by Israel’s Intelligence Directorate, the Southern Command, and the Shin Bet internal security agency.
“For years, Izadi funneled weapons to Hamas to fuel its terror campaign against Israel and these newly revealed documents are further proof of his central role in arming and financing the organization,” the IDF said.
According to the captured documents, Izadi was aware of Hamas’ plans to attack Israel, though he was not informed of the exact timing. In a critical June 2023 meeting in Tehran, senior Hamas official Saleh al-Arouri presented invasion plans targeting Israeli border communities. Izadi endorsed the strategy but urged Hamas to keep it secret from Hezbollah, citing fears of Israeli intelligence infiltration.
The IDF released intelligence documents it says were discovered in a Hamas tunnel beneath the European Hospital in southern Gaza, the same site where senior Hamas commander Mohammed Sinwar was recently killed in an Israeli airstrike.
Before leading the Palestine Corps, Izadi served as commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ ground forces and deputy head of operations. Katz described the strike as delivering “justice for the murdered.”
The operation follows another high-profile Israeli airstrike on June 13, 2025, which killed Aminpour Joudaki, commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force’s 2nd UAV Brigade, responsible for coordinating hundreds of drone attacks on Israel from Iran’s Ahvaz region.
