Today (Thursday), U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed Edan Alexander, a survivor of Hamas captivity, and his parents to the Oval Office at the White House in Washington, D.C. The meeting took place nearly two months after Edan’s release from captivity.

Alexander told Donald Trump and his wife Melania that after Trump's election to the U.S. presidency, the terrorists moved him to a "new place, a good place" because they were afraid of him.

Trump responded: "I understand so they treated you better, wow. They weren't too afraid of Biden."

The meeting took place against the backdrop of preparations for another hostage deal, and just days before Netanyahu's expected arrival at the White House.

As recalled, Alexander was released by the terrorist organization Hamas as a gesture to Trump, when he was visiting the Middle East - in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and then in the Emirates.

Around the time of his release, it was reported that Alexander, who holds American citizenship and lives with his Israeli family in New Jersey, would fly immediately to Qatar to meet with Trump. Ultimately the meeting did not take place due to his medical condition. His family arranged with Trump that they would meet at the White House when circumstances would allow.

Until about a month ago, Alexander stayed in Israel and underwent rehabilitation. During the war with Iran, when Israeli skies were closed, Alexander managed to leave the country - on a dedicated evacuation flight for American diplomats.
