Shin Bet Arrests Protester Suspected of Plotting to Assassinate Prime Minister Netanyahu
A well-known 70-year-old protester was arrested by the Shin Bet and the police on suspicion of planning to harm Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. She was detained and later released to house arrest, and the case will be transferred to the State Attorney’s Office

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and Israel Police arrested a 70-year-old Tel Aviv resident, a well-known protest activist, suspected of planning to harm Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to reports from Channel 13 News and Srugim News.
The woman was detained approximately two weeks ago and has since been released to house arrest under restrictive conditions, including a ban on approaching government institutions or the Prime Minister. Her case is set to be transferred to the State Attorney’s Office on Thursday, with an expected indictment for conspiracy to commit a crime and conspiracy to commit a terrorist act.
The investigation, conducted by the Shin Bet and the National Unit for Serious and International Crime Investigations (YAHBAL), was initiated after the woman allegedly expressed intent to assassinate Netanyahu to others. She reportedly sought to obtain weapons, specifically an explosive device, and inquired about the Prime Minister’s security arrangements by contacting other protest activists.
According to Kan 11, she conspired with others to carry out an attack against Netanyahu. A gag order on the case was partially lifted at the police’s request, allowing some details to be published, though the woman’s name and address remain confidential per a court order at the request of her defense attorney.
The case has been forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office for further legal action to ensure the full extent of the law is applied.
The Israel Police issued a statement confirming the conclusion of the investigation into the suspected conspiracy to murder Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The suspect, a woman in her seventies and a known anti-government protest activist from Tel Aviv, expressed intent to kill the Prime Minister and took steps to advance her plan. She contacted other activists to acquire weapons and gather information on Netanyahu’s security protocols. The investigation has been completed, and the case file has been transferred to the State Attorney’s Office for further handling. The gag order on the investigation details was partially lifted, though the suspect’s personal information is still not cleared for publication.
Opposition Leader Yair Lapid condemned the alleged plot, stating, “I strongly condemn the attempt to harm Prime Minister Netanyahu. The full force of the law must be applied to anyone who has tried or will try to harm him.”
