On July 12, 2025, Winston Marshall, former Mumford & Sons guitarist turned political commentator, hosted Middle East specialist Andrew Fox on *The Winston Marshall Show* for a gripping episode titled “I Went to Gaza and This Is What I Saw.”

Posted on X by Marshall (@MrWinMarshall), the interview promises a “haunting firsthand account of war crimes, propaganda, and the horrors the media won’t show.” Fox, a former British paratrooper and research fellow at the Henry Jackson Society, shared his observations from a recent trip to Gaza, diving into massacres, child soldiers, human shields, and Hamas’s manipulation of global narratives.

The episode also critiques the West’s moral inconsistencies and the psychological toll of witnessing such atrocities. Here’s a deeper look at the key points and context surrounding this provocative discussion.

Andrew Fox’s Gaza Experience

Andrew Fox, described as a defense analyst and former British military officer, visited Gaza in the summer of 2024, reportedly as a guest of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). His firsthand account, as shared on Marshall’s show, paints a stark picture of the region’s ongoing conflict. Fox detailed scenes of “unspeakable brutality,” including Hamas' use of child soldiers, and Hamas’s tactic of employing human shields to shield its operations. He argues that Hamas systematically manipulates both Gaza’s civilians and global media to push a propaganda war, while downplaying its own role in civilian harm.

Fox’s observations align with his December 2024 Henry Jackson Society report, “Questionable Counting: Analysing the Death Toll from the Hamas-Run Ministry of Health in Gaza,” which scrutinized casualty figures provided by Hamas-controlled authorities. The report claims the Gaza Ministry of Health (MoH) inflates civilian death tolls by misclassifying combatants as civilians, including natural deaths in war casualty counts, and over-reporting fatalities among women and children. Fox asserts that 84% of 1,378 analyzed articles from major outlets like The New York Times, BBC, and CNN failed to distinguish between combatant and civilian deaths, spreading Hamas’s narrative.

The episode has generated significant traction on X, with users praising Fox for cutting through “misinformation” and offering a “firsthand” perspective. Others, like @jbetlach, shared the episode in Czech, signaling its international reach. The episode’s focus on media bias and war crimes has fueled debates about journalistic integrity, with some X users urging followers to watch for an unfiltered view of Gaza’s realities.
