Elise Stefanik preparing to run for New York Governor
The fiery Congresswoman revealed herself to be a big friend of the Jews when she grilled university presidents over their failure to protect Jewish students in the House.

Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik plans to run for governor of the state of New York, and it's a question of "when, not if," according to sources familiar with her thinking speaking to the Hill.
While the state of New York remains a strongly Democratic state, the Republican party has made major gains there, especially in Trump's reelection. Lee Zeldin came within just six points of winning the governorship in 2022 due to dissatisfaction with things like crime.
If Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the election to lead New York City, Stefanik's chances may increase due to the unpopularity of Mamdani's ideas and rhetoric on any number of issues foreign and domestic, especially related to Jews and Israel.
That said, the "out" party that does not hold the White House tends to do a lot better than the one that has the Presidency, so Stefanik will face a seriously uphill climb to win a state where registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by millions.
