The chances of a hostage deal with Hamas appear increasingly slim, as the terrorist group continues to insist that the war be ended, the IDF withdrawn, and Hamas remain in charge of the Strip with their arms and money and supply flow intact, conditions Israel considers unacceptable.

Hamas is also releasing increasing numbers of hostage videos with the aim of pressuring hostage families to force the government to agree to a deal on Hamas' terms.

Instead, Israel is trying to pressure Hamas into a deal on its terms, including cutting off aid supply, taking increasing control of the territory of the Gaza Strip, and carrying out air strikes and raids into the area.

The Israeli government recently engaged in a fierce debate with the IDF on the question of when and how to distribute aid, with IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir opposing IDF soldiers being involved and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich demanding that the IDF take control.
