Macron Booed During Bastille Day Parade in Paris | WATCH TENSE MOMENT
French President Emmanuel Macron faced loud boos and protests during the Bastille Day military parade in Paris, a rare moment of open dissent on France's national day
French President Emmanuel Macron was greeted with loud boos and whistles during the Bastille Day military parade on Sunday morning (July 14), in a rare moment of open protest during France’s most symbolic national celebration.
As Macron made his way to the presidential tribune along the Champs-Élysées, dozens of protesters jeered the president live on national TV. “I can hear whistling. A lot of people are booing the President of the Republic,” reported France 2’s Léa Malekonian in real time, describing the atmosphere as tense and confrontational.
Security forces from the CRS riot police were seen mobilizing near the presidential convoy, but did not intervene. The protesting group, estimated at 20–50 people, made significant noise, including balloon explosions and loud bangs resembling smoke bombs or fireworks.
Despite the disruption, Macron proceeded undeterred, reviewing the troops and waving to citizens and foreign visitors. The crowd included thousands of tourists celebrating France’s national holiday — although online, Macron’s critics quickly seized on the moment as evidence of his growing unpopularity in his second term
