In three separate incidents near Odessa, Ukraine's southern coast, three swimmers tragically lost their lives after being struck by explosions from unexploded ordnance. The incidents occurred in restricted swimming areas, where the authorities have warned the public about the dangers.

Regional Governor Oleg Kiper reported that one man was killed in Karolino-Bugaz, while another man and a woman died near the nearby Zatoka area. These locations are some distance from the city of Odessa, the regional capital. Kiper emphasized that all fatalities were caused by explosions from unexploded ordnance while the victims were swimming in dangerous, untested waters. He urged the public to heed the warnings, highlighting the lethal risks of swimming in uninspected areas.

The Black Sea coast is popular with locals and tourists during the summer, but since the full-scale Russian invasion, mines and unexploded ordnance have been scattered across the beaches. The authorities have issued severe warnings, stressing the dangers. Kiper noted that only 32 areas in the Odessa region have been declared safe for swimming, with most of them located within Odessa city itself.

Meanwhile, fighting continues on the front lines. In southern Russia, in the Saratov region, one person was killed in a Ukrainian drone attack that also damaged residential buildings and an industrial facility. The local governor, Roman Borsogin, reported on Telegram that residents were evacuated following damage caused by debris from the downed drone, which affected three apartments. Several people received medical treatment on-site, and one person was hospitalized but did not survive.

Russian air defense forces reported shooting down 121 Ukrainian drones overnight, including eight in the Saratov area. Videos on social media showed thick black smoke rising from the industrial zone in Saratov.

Ukrainian reports, including from the RBK-Ukraine website, indicated that a Rosneft-owned oil facility in Saratov caught fire following the drone attack. However, no official confirmation has come from Russia. Industry sources confirmed that the facility had been shut down earlier this year for safety reasons due to Ukrainian strikes.

Reports from nearby cities Saratov and Engels indicated several explosions during the night, as shared by the SHOT Telegram channel, which receives information from security and police sources. Additionally, Russia's civil aviation authority announced that flights to and from Saratov were suspended for two hours early Sunday morning to "ensure air safety."
