Shocking Report: Russia Loses 1M Troops in Ukraine War
A staggering new figure exposes the brutal human cost of Russia's prolonged war in Ukraine.

More than 1,050,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or injured since the beginning of Moscow's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, according to a new British military intelligence report.
The report, published Tuesday by the UK Ministry of Defence, cites data from the Ukrainian General Staff and reveals a daily average of 1,072 Russian casualties - killed or wounded - in July 2025. This marks a slight decline from earlier months, but remains alarmingly high.
Most of the 260,000 Russian casualties in 2025 occurred during the winter and spring months. Despite the slight drop, the UK Defence Ministry suggests the decrease is not due to less intense fighting but rather to adjustments in Russian military tactics, such as improved troop protection and altered use of infantry and artillery.
"The scale of Russian losses is unprecedented in recent military history," the report states, highlighting that Russia continues to push hard along the front lines, especially in the Donbas region, making slow but steady territorial gains.
Despite mounting losses, the report notes no indication that Russia intends to retreat or scale down its operations. Ongoing mobilizations and a sustained military tempo suggest Moscow is prepared to continue sacrificing significant manpower to achieve tactical objectives.
The report does not detail Ukrainian casualties but underscores Russia's persistent capacity to maintain a high operational pace over an extended period, a sign of continued reserve mobilization and strategic determination.
