Even the Oval Office could use a little unscripted charm

Elon Musk's son X stole the show at the White House – but his mother was horrified

I'm not entirely sure why Elon thought it was a good idea to bring his 4 year old to the Oval Office, and neither is his mom.

In an endearing disruption of White House formality yesterday (Tuesday), a curious four-year-old boy momentarily transformed the somber Oval Office into a playground of childhood wonder. X Æ A-12, known simply as X, accompanied his father Elon Musk to what was meant to be a serious policy meeting, but the 4 year old behaved like 4 year olds do - and hilarity ensued.

As adults discussed government efficiency, young X explored his surroundings with the pure curiosity only a child can muster. He climbed onto his father's shoulders for a better view of the historic room, settled comfortably on the floor when the grown-up talk became too boring, and, in a perfectly natural four-year-old moment, picked his nose – much to the amusement of President Trump.

While his father Musk discussed complex policy reforms wearing a formal black ensemble including a "Make America Great Again" hat, X remained true to his age, playing with his father's hat and bringing spontaneous smiles to the faces of hardened Washington journalists.

His mother Grimes was extremely unimpressed. "For me, it's a tragedy. I'm just hoping to find a solution," she shared, though she noted that her son maintained his politeness throughout the visit.

In a city where every gesture is usually calculated, X reminded us that 4 year olds will be 4 year olds, and there's nothing cuter on the planet.

(And best of luck to his mother, too.)
