In the early hours of Thursday morning, the Israel Defense Forces reported detecting a missile launch from Yemen toward Israeli territory. At 4:07 a.m., the IDF spokesperson confirmed that air defense systems were activated to intercept the threat, urging the public to follow Home Front Command guidelines. Minutes later, residents across central Israel and Jerusalem reported hearing loud explosions, although no sirens were activated.

By 4:25 a.m., the IDF announced that the Israeli Air Force had successfully intercepted a single missile. Military officials clarified that, according to policy, no alerts were issued during the incident. Unlike similar events in recent months, the Home Front Command did not release an advance list of communities expected to hear sirens.

The interception comes amid a series of recent launches from Yemen by Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who have targeted Israel with both ballistic missiles and UAVs. Earlier this week, the Air Force intercepted multiple drones from Yemen, and on previous occasions over the past two weeks, missiles were downed over Israeli territory. The IDF continues to carry out strikes on Houthi assets in Yemen, including infrastructure at their main port, as part of Operation “Long Braid.”
