The possibility of performing gender reassignment procedures on minors has been banned in the state of North Carolina in the USA. The state's legislature has overwhelmingly overridden several vetoes by the state's Democratic governor, Roy Cooper.
Republicans in the state House of Representatives became the overwhelming majority at the beginning of the year, after one of the Democratic representatives switched parties. The new situation allows the state's Republican Party to easily override the governor's veto. The North Carolina legislature also overrode the governor's veto of bills on energy, housing and more.
