In a bizarre sequence of events, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has decided to act as a foreign policy body, issuing the following statement.

Unsurprisingly, not a single word was said about the fact that Los Angeles is home to over 500,000 Jews - including hundreds of thousands of Israelis - whose families were just saved from potential extermination.

"Our hearts go out to the victims and their families affected by the recent bombings in Iran. Although this tragic event occurred overseas, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with our local, state, and federal partners.

At this time, there are no known threats to Los Angeles County. However, out of an abundance of caution, we are increasing patrol checks at houses of worship and other sensitive locations across the county.

The safety and security of our communities remain our top priority. We will continue to assess and respond to any developments as they arise.

If you see something, say something."
