Last night (Saturday to Sunday), Idan Toklomati and his Charlotte squad hosted Leo Messi’s Inter Miami and company. The Israeli star single-handedly dragged his team to victory with a stunning hat-trick, securing a 3-0 win and tying the MLS record for consecutive victories with nine in a row.

The Israeli striker watched Messi miss a penalty in the 32nd minute and decided it was time to wake up two minutes later. By the 34th minute, he’d already opened the scoring, doubled the lead in the 47th, and sealed the deal with a pinpoint penalty in the 84th.

Toklomati has now reached 10 goals in the league, with involvement in 12 goals overall. Charlotte sits third in the Eastern Conference, four points behind Philadelphia Union, where Tai Baribo came off the bench in their jaw-dropping 7-0 thrashing by Vancouver, with Thomas Müller shining via his own hat-trick. Meanwhile, another Israeli, Ilay Feingold, played a full 90 minutes in New England Revolution’s 1-1 draw against Toronto.
