Kristin Cabot, the woman at the center of a viral kiss-cam scandal at a Coldplay concert, has filed for divorce from her husband, Andrew Cabot, less than a month after the incident. The filing in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, comes after she was seen publicly with her boss, Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, during a concert, a moment captured on a kiss-cam that quickly spread across social media.
Andrew Cabot's ex-wife, Julia Cabot, a 63-year-old yoga teacher, told The Daily Mail that she wasn't surprised by the news. "He's not a nice person. Now something not nice happened to him," she said, adding that "karma" was a word used by many people she knows to describe the situation. She believes her ex-husband, a descendant of a wealthy "Boston Brahmin" family and CEO of Privateer Rum, is not upset by the breakup but is likely embarrassed. Julia Cabot was married to Andrew for four years, and their divorce was a two-year battle that saw her walk away with a $1 million settlement, a $1.9 million house, and a Jaguar.
Sources, however, have raised suspicions that the couple's claims of a failing marriage before the scandal are a way to save face. Just a month before the kiss-cam incident, the couple was reportedly telling friends they were very much in love. The Cabots bought a $2.2 million, four-bedroom home just five months before the public scandal.
Andrew Cabot was on a business trip to Japan when the kiss-cam video went viral. He was reportedly unaware of his wife's actions until he returned home. His ex-wife says he played it cool when he found out about the scandal. "I texted Andrew right after it happened, and he said: 'Her life is nothing to do with me,' and said they were separating," she said. Julia Cabot also commented on her ex-husband's third wife, saying, "She doesn’t seem like wife material either."
The legal battle between Kristin and Andrew Cabot has just begun, and if Julia's experience is any indication, it could be a long and contentious one. Both Kristin and Andrew Cabot did not respond to requests for comment.
