A man in London was arrested on suspicion of a racially motivated assault after he reportedly used an e-scooter to attack two Jewish women and a young child in the Clapton Common area. The incident, which took place on a Monday afternoon at approximately 2:20 PM, has been described by community leaders as part of a troubling increase in anti-Semitic hate crimes across the city.

According to a police report, the assailant first approached a 21-year-old woman, allegedly shouting an antisemitic slur before deliberately ramming his e-scooter into her. The impact of the assault caused the woman to suffer a fractured arm, a bruised leg, and a deep scar on her face. She was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The woman was reportedly chased into the road by the man before he struck her.

Moments later, the same attacker targeted another Jewish woman, a 24-year-old mother who was walking with her three-year-old daughter. The man slammed the e-scooter into the young mother, knocking her to the ground. While she was not hospitalized, her child was left shaken and traumatized by the unprovoked assault.

London's Shomrim community watch group documented the rampage, and its volunteers pursued the suspect after the attacks. They tracked him until the police intervened and made the arrest. The man was taken into custody on suspicion of racially aggravated common assault and common assault.

A spokesperson for Shomrim London North & East condemned the incident, stating that it was a "vicious anti-Semitic attack on innocent women going about their day." The spokesperson praised the swift response from both Shomrim volunteers and the police, which ensured the attacker was "tracked and detained before more people were harmed." The Metropolitan Police has confirmed the suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues, and authorities have not yet released any further details about his identity. The incident has intensified concerns among London's Jewish community about the rise of targeted hate crimes.
