Secrets Unveiled: How Mossad Agents Eliminated Nasrallah "Under Fire in the Heart of Beirut"
A dramatic disclosure from the President's Residence: A senior Mossad official describes how the operation to eliminate the former leader of Hezbollah was carried out and reveals that Israeli agents operated on the ground, risking their lives in the heart of an enemy state.

During a festive ceremony at the President's Residence to present the Israel Defense Prize, the award was given to the Mossad for its crucial role in the operation to eliminate Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah. The event, attended by senior security officials, unveiled new details about the operation that took place on September 27 of last year, a date described as a "historic turning point" that culminated a ten-day period of intense war.
"G," a Mossad officer for agent recruitment and handling, spoke on behalf of the award recipients, revealing that the operation originated from an extraordinary fusion between an ambitious technological idea, which he could only describe as a "fantasy", and the skills of the best technology professionals. He emphasized that technology alone is not enough, stating that precise intelligence and bold operational capability, at times risking lives in the heart of an enemy state, are required "to turn the impossible into the possible."
According to the official, in the operation to eliminate Nasrallah, Mossad agents "acted with courage and determination under fire in the heart of Beirut" to provide the precise intelligence needed for the mission's success. He added that the collaboration among the IDF, Mossad, MAFAT (Israel's Defense Research and Development Directorate), defense industries, and academia was the key that turned this fantasy into a highly impactful reality. "The principle of synergy, woven like a thread through all the operations and projects," he stated, "is not just an idea but a living, breathing reality with which we win wars."
After the ceremony, Mossad Director David Barnea congratulated his personnel and stressed that this year's prize is especially symbolic. He noted it reflects the security establishment's power in defeating Hezbollah, a journey from last year's prize for the "pager operation" to this year's for the elimination of Nasrallah. Barnea pointed out that these successes are based on three core values guiding the Mossad: courage, technological innovation, and cunning. He stated that "the combination of institutional operational capabilities with top-tier technology and high-quality intelligence allows a vision to become a reality, and the deep partnership with the IDF is the key to every success."
The operation itself, conducted in the Dahiyeh district, a Hezbollah stronghold in Beirut, involved dropping over 80 one-ton bombs on the bunker where Nasrallah was located. According to an IDF statement following the elimination, Air Force jets, with precise intelligence guidance from the Intelligence Directorate and the security establishment, attacked Hezbollah's central command, located beneath a residential building in Dahiyeh. The IDF confirmed the strike was carried out while Hezbollah's leadership was at the command center, coordinating terror activities against Israeli citizens.
"We must not be complacent with success," G concluded. "While we celebrate past achievements, behind closed doors, brilliant, determined, and creative minds are working tirelessly to prepare the groundbreaking operations of tomorrow and to shape Israel's security for generations. Great pride for the Mossad. Great pride for the security community. Great pride for the State of Israel."
