A 36-year-old man was arrested for assault after allegedly attacking a Jewish man at a Borough Park gas station. The unprovoked incident, captured on video, involved the suspect chasing and punching the victim and stepping on his yarmulke

A 36-year-old man from Midwood has been arrested and charged with assault after allegedly attacking a Jewish man at a Borough Park gas station Monday evening (August 4th), according to police and local safety group Boro Park Shomrim.
The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. at the corner of 11th Avenue and 60th Street. Authorities say the suspect, Sizer Jobon, followed the victim from the convenience store's bathroom, chased him, intimidated him, and punched him, as captured on surveillance footage. During the assault, Jobon reportedly stepped on the victim's yarmulke. The victim sustained injuries but did not require hospitalization. Police confirmed the attack was unprovoked, and the two had no prior relationship.
A witness immediately contacted Boro Park Shomrim, providing a description of the attacker. Shomrim volunteers tracked Jobon as he boarded a city bus and coordinated with the NYPD, who stopped the bus and arrested him at 15th Avenue and 60th Street.
Jobon's listed address appears to be a storage facility on Avenue M and East 14th Street, though a representative for the company clarified it is not their publicly listed location.
Despite the assault's nature, the NYPD is not classifying the incident as a hate crime at this time. Charges include assault, with further details pending.
