The IDF released the following statement today (Wednesday), regarding the launching of multiple air strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon:

"A short while ago, the IDF struck Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure sites in southern Lebanon. Among the targets struck: Hezbollah weapons storage facilities, a missile launcher and Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure which stored engineering tools that allowed for the reestablishment of terrorist infrastructure in the area.

"The Hezbollah terrorist organization continues attempting to reestablish terrorist infrastructure throughout Lebanon using the Lebanese population as human shields. The presence of weapons and the activity of Hezbollah in the area constitutes a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon.

"The IDF will continue to operate in order to protect the state of Israel."

Yesterday, the Lebanese government passed a resolution to begin the process of disarming Hezbollah and ensuring only the Lebanese state army possesses arms. The decision includes the demand for an actionable plan to disarm the terrorist group to be discussed by the government at the end of this month.

Iran said today that it opposes the effort to disarm Hezbollah and that any efforts to do so will fail. Hezbollah itself remains defiant on the matter, claiming its weapons threaten no one and that disarming means giving their weapons to Israel rather than ensuring internal peace in Lebanon.
