Syrian Druze Crisis: 2,200 Dead - “This Is Ten Times Worse Than October 7”
Anwar Amer, head of the Druze council in the Israeli town of Hurfeish, delivered a dramatic appeal to the international community, accusing jihadist groups of committing atrocities against Syria’s Druze minority and warning that if Israel does not act, the threat will spill over into the Golan Heights.

In a fiery statement reported by Channel 14, Anwar Amer condemned the silence of the international community, including the United Nations, in the face of what he described as systematic massacres of Druze villages in southern Syria.
“In July, terrorists tied to Hamas and al-Julani’s forces attacked Druze villages in the Sweida region. They entered villages, slaughtered women and children, raped girls, beheaded people, and kidnapped women. This was a second October 7 — ten times worse,” Amer declared.
According to him, at least 2,200 Druze have already been killed, with an additional 3,000 bodies still lying in homes and streets in villages inaccessible to outside observers. “The world talks about Gaza every day. Where is the UN when it comes to our Druze brothers? If not for the State of Israel and the prime minister’s decisive action to prevent a massacre, tens of thousands more Druze would have been slaughtered,” Amer warned.
Amer emphasized the ideological connection between jihadists in Gaza and Syria:
“It’s the same murderous, Nazi-like jihadist ideology. They slaughtered us on October 7, and now they are slaughtering the Druze in Syria.”
The Druze leader stressed the demand from Syria’s Druze spiritual leadership for an autonomous demilitarized zone, free from the control of jihadist groups such as al-Julani’s faction. He accused the West of falling for al-Julani’s attempts to present himself as a politician in a suit while hiding his true face as a bloodthirsty extremist.
Amer also delivered a direct warning to Israel’s leadership:
“If we allow these forces to establish themselves just east of our border, we will find them in our towns in the Golan Heights. This must never be allowed to happen. I thank the prime minister and defense minister for standing firm, but I warn: Israel cannot permit this threat to grow.”
The statement underscores growing fears within Israel that the collapse of Druze villages in southern Syria could destabilize the region and create a direct security challenge along the border.
