From Heartbreak to Stardom: Korin Gamliel Is Israel’s Next Big Voice
Israeli singer Korin Gamliel overcomes heartbreak to launch her music career, releasing an emotional debut single following her partner's death in Gaza and success on HaKochav HaBa.

The Mizrahi music scene is as competitive as ever, but a new name is quickly rising above the noise. Korin Gamliel, 21, from Kiryat Ekron, is being hailed as the next great star of Israeli music, and her story is as emotional as it is inspiring.
Gamliel first captured public attention through social media before reaching national fame on the popular TV contest HaKochav HaBa La’Eurovision (The Next Star in Eurovision). Her heartfelt audition left judges speechless, particularly after she revealed the devastating personal tragedy of losing her longtime partner, Afiq Teri, who was killed in Gaza.
Despite the grief, Gamliel has pressed forward with determination. On Monday, she released her first single since Teri’s death, a moving ballad titled “Eich Ata Mistabech” (“How You Get Caught Up”), written and composed by acclaimed Israeli musician Sasson Shaulov.
The collaboration was born out of a spontaneous studio meeting. “The connection was instant,” Shaulov said, explaining why he chose to create the dramatic farewell ballad with her. The track is accompanied by a striking music video, now available online.
Back in December, shortly before her audition, Gamliel spoke tearfully about her late partner:
“We were together for four years, since seventh grade. He wasn’t just my boyfriend, he was my best friend. I still haven’t fully processed what happened. Life has to go on, so I try to keep myself as busy as possible.”
She also shared that Teri had always been her biggest supporter, encouraging her to pursue music:
“Afiq always wanted me to succeed. He believed in my voice and gave me the confidence to audition. He would have wanted the world to hear me.”
With the backing of Shaulov and a rapidly growing fan base, industry insiders now say Korin Gamliel is poised to become one of Israel’s most powerful new voices.
