Idan Amedi Announces Major Tel Aviv Concert Following Controversy
Singer responds to anti-war petition with landmark show at Yarkon Park, promising unprecedented concert experience
Israeli singer-songwriter and reserve IDF soldier Idan Amedi, who made headlines earlier today for his vocal response to a controversial artists' petition calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, is shifting the focus back to music by announcing the next major step in his career.
Following a successful international tour and the release of his acclaimed album Superman, Amedi officially announced Sunday evening the launch of ticket sales for a massive live performance at Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park, scheduled for September 9. Tickets will go on sale this Wednesday.
This will be Amedi’s first performance at the iconic venue, and it promises to be unlike any seen before in Israel. For the first time, a specially constructed amphitheater-style seating structure will be erected in the park, offering 30,000 designated seats. The unique setup aims to enhance accessibility and comfort for all attendees, including people with disabilities and injured war veterans.
The concert experience will also feature improved transportation options, a large arts fair, food collaborations, and more, with Amedi and his team investing months in crafting what they call a “groundbreaking and inclusive audience experience.”
The announcement comes on the heels of a national debate sparked by a petition titled "Stop the Horror in Gaza", signed by several prominent figures from the Israeli arts and media sectors. The petition calls for an end to IDF operations in the Gaza Strip.
Amedi, known for his patriotism and military service, issued a scathing response earlier in the day. On social media, he wrote:
"Disconnected and spreading lies. Every home in Gaza is filled with anti-Semitic and anti-Jewish propaganda: from images of martyrs to stickers that read, 'With blood and fire we will reach Jerusalem.' These are the pamphlets of privileged fools echoing stupidity, ignorance, and falsehoods."
While the controversy continues to stir debate, Amedi’s focus now turns toward uniting his audience through music in what is expected to be one of the biggest cultural events of the year.
