Brooke Goldstein, a fiery human rights lawyer and filmmaker, slipped into Gaza this week to see the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) in action, and what she found was a gut-punch: Hamas is hijacking aid meant for starving Gazans, while GHF is battling to get food to those who need it most. The founder of The Lawfare Project, Goldstein went to counter what she calls a “flat-out lie” about GHF’s work, which has delivered over 125 million meals since May 2025. Her raw account, shared on X and in interviews, paints a chaotic picture of a war zone where aid is a weapon and GHF’s bold approach is shaking things up.

Goldstein visited GHF’s aid sites, including one in Rafah, where she saw a gritty operation up close. GHF’s setup is like a fortress: chain-link fences, ID checks, and American security contractors keep Hamas at bay, delivering food straight to civilians. On August 8, Goldstein watched GHF hand out 26,784 food boxes across three sites, plus extras like potatoes and nutrition packs with Samaritan’s Purse. She saw Palestinian workers risking their lives to help, knowing Hamas has put bounties on their heads. “Food is Hamas’s weapon,” Goldstein said, pointing out how the group steals aid to control Gaza’s desperate population.

On X, Goldstein didn’t hold back. On August 17, she posted: “Just got out of Gaza, filming with the Gaza Humanitarian Aid foundation. EVERYTHING you hear about them in the MSM is FALSE. I’ll upload my pictures and video soon. I need to blur out faces because Hamas hunts and kills workers giving aid to Gazans.” On August 20, she doubled down, saying she went to “see for myself” and promised footage to set the record straight. In a FOX News Rundown interview, she called GHF’s work “game-changing,” accusing Hamas of snatching 90% of UN aid in July while GHF ensures food reaches people directly. She blasted media and UNRWA for spreading Hamas’s “propaganda,” especially as Gazans face famine worsened by an 11-week Israeli blockade earlier this year.

Not everyone’s buying Goldstein’s take. The UN and groups like Human Rights Watch call GHF sites “death traps,” claiming 1,965 civilians have died near them since May, with 859 killed by July 31, often in chaotic crowds. They accuse Israeli forces and GHF contractors of firing on aid seekers, though Goldstein and the IDF say Hamas fighters hide in these crowds, sparking violence. Mondoweiss goes further, alleging GHF’s work traps Gazans in “concentration zones” to serve Israel’s military goals. A Guardian report cited witnesses claiming deliberate shootings, but Goldstein calls these stories twisted by Hamas sympathizers.

Goldstein, known for her 2006 documentary *The Making of a Martyr* exposing Palestinian child exploitation, is no stranger to controversy. Her Gaza visit backs Israel’s $473 million push to fund aid while dodging Hamas’s grip, but it’s stirred a hornet’s nest. Goldstein’s account highlights a brutal reality: delivering aid in a war zone means navigating Hamas’s theft and global criticism.
