How Hamas Referred to the Kaplan Protests? The Document Found in Gaza Revealed
A Hamas intelligence document that was revealed exposes how the organization analyzed the impact of the protests in Israel on the IDF. The document was written two months before the October 7th attack and refers to the effects of refusal.

Was there a connection between the wave of protests in Israel and the letters of non-attendance and Hamas's decision to launch the severe attack? The answer to this question is disputed among the public - and also in the investigations published so far.
This evening (Thursday) a document written by Hamas's military intelligence was revealed on I24NEWS channel about two and a half months before the Simchat Torah massacre. The letter is from July 25, 2023. The letter is addressed to Yahya Sinwar and its title is "How the protest among the army affects operational readiness and the security situation on the fronts."
"The enemy army is experiencing a crisis of serious and escalating protest expressions among reserve soldiers and officers, who constitute a central backbone in the army's operational functioning, especially in the air force," is written in the document.
"This negatively affects its operational capability in a scenario where protest expressions and refusal significantly worsen. It also harms its offensive approach and readiness to deal with existing challenges on the fronts."
According to the report, the document was written a week after the press conference of 'Brothers in Arms,' in which letters of non-attendance to reserves were delivered as a protest against advancing the reform. In Hamas's document all the information appears including details of the units that announced refusal.
At the end of the document it is noted that despite the protest expressions, the number of soldiers and officers who refuse to serve is not enough to significantly affect readiness, however according to them the refusal is expected to deepen if additional laws are passed. They also suggest in the document to intensify psychological warfare that will increase polarization in Israeli society.
