In the aftermath of a devastating terror attack in Jerusalem, IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir visited an observation point overlooking the village where the terrorists lived. Accompanied by the Commander of Central Command, Major General Avi Blot, the Commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, Brigadier General Kobi Heller, and other senior commanders, the Chief of Staff held a situational assessment to plan the military’s response.

From the observation point, Zamir delivered a clear message: "We are here following a very severe attack in the heart of Jerusalem. I ordered a full closure of the area from which the terrorists came." He emphasized the military's commitment to a proactive and sustained campaign. "We will continue with a determined and ongoing operational and intelligence effort, we will pursue terror cells everywhere, and we will thwart terrorist infrastructure and its organizers."

The Chief of Staff also addressed the importance of learning from the incident. "We must study, investigate, and draw the necessary lessons," he stated. He noted that the day was marked by intense military activity across all fronts, reaffirming that the IDF is "expanding activity in order to achieve the decisive defeat of Hamas, and are operating offensively and proactively in all arenas."

General Zamir also took a moment to commend the bravery of those who stopped the attack. "The terrorist was neutralized by an IDF soldier from the Hashmonaim Brigade and by an additional civilian," he said. "This is an example of the operational edge expected of IDF troops. I have great appreciation for the composure and determination they demonstrated."

Concluding his remarks, the Chief of Staff sent his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded. His visit and orders signal a firm and immediate response by the military to the attack, focusing on both proactive measures to prevent future incidents and a thorough investigation into the events that led to the tragedy.
