The Shin Bet and Israeli Police have identified the two terrorists who carried out a shooting attack earlier today in Jerusalem, naming them as Mutna Omar, 20, and Muhammad Taha, 21, both residents of the Binyamin region. Neither had a prior record of arrests. Following the attack, the IDF launched an operation to arrest Omar's father. It was also revealed that Taha had been questioned by police three months prior to the incident but was released.

The attack, which took place at the Ramot Junction in Jerusalem, killed six people and injured 21 others, with seven in serious condition and an eighth-month pregnant woman among the wounded. The incident unfolded as the two terrorists, who arrived by car, attempted to board a crowded bus. The bus driver, noticing their suspicious behaviour, quickly closed the doors, preventing them from entering. The terrorists then opened fire on the bus and the passengers waiting at the bus stop.

Eyewitnesses recounted the terror of the moment. One woman, who was on the bus, told Walla, "The bus was packed with people, and the driver didn't want to let us off. He stood at the station and wouldn't let us get off. He said it was broken. As soon as we got off, there was shooting. I got off the back door, and whoever was in the front was hit. It was terrible."

An IDF soldier from the Hahashmonaim Brigade, along with a civilian, heroically engaged and neutralized the terrorists, whose bodies were found about 50 meters from the bus stop. Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir praised the soldier's and the civilian's response, commending their "cool-headedness and determination to engage." Zamir also announced a full closure of the area from which the terrorists came, vowing to "continue with a determined and sustained operational and intelligence effort" to dismantle terror networks.

In a related development, a resident of East Jerusalem has been arrested on suspicion of driving the terrorists to the junction. He is currently being questioned by the Shin Bet. Family members of the attackers are also being interrogated to determine if they had any prior knowledge of the planned attack.
