Defense Minister Katz Confirms Israeli Airstrikes on Tehran’s Evin Prison, IRGC Bases
Israeli airstrikes target key Iranian regime sites in Tehran, including Evin Prison and IRGC command centers, in response to Iran’s missile attacks. The strikes aim to weaken Iran’s military and internal security capabilities while ensuring Israel’s defense.

In a bold escalation, Israel launched unprecedented airstrikes on Iranian regime targets in Tehran, following Iran’s missile barrages against Israel on Monday morning. Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed the Israeli Air Force (IAF) is targeting critical regime sites, including the notorious Evin Prison and key Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) command centers. Katz emphasized the operation’s intensity, stating, “The IDF is now striking with unprecedented force at regime and suppression entities deep in Tehran. At the command center, I watched the impressive performance of the Air Force closely, along with the Chief of Staff. Soon, images will be released illustrating the depth of the damage.”
Evin Prison, long infamous for detaining political prisoners, journalists, academics, and dual nationals, was among the primary targets. The facility, sanctioned by the US and EU for systemic human rights abuses, reportedly sustained damage to its entrance, sparking speculation that the strike aimed to facilitate prisoner escapes. The IAF also struck six regime airports across western, eastern, and central Iran, damaging runways, underground shelters, refueling aircraft, and F-14, F-5, and AH-1 jets intended to counter Israeli operations. These strikes crippled Iran’s air force capabilities, disrupting takeoff operations and reinforcing Israel’s air superiority.
Key IRGC command centers, including the “Thar-Allah” and “Sayyed al-Shuhada” Corps, were hit, targeting Tehran’s internal security and defense mechanisms. The General Intelligence Directorate of Iran’s Internal Security forces, responsible for media control and employee oversight, was also struck. Katz vowed, “For every missile fired at the Israeli home front, the Iranian dictator will be severely punished, and the strikes will continue with full force. We will keep working to protect the home front and defeat the enemy until we achieve all our war objectives.”
The IDF underscored its commitment, stating, “The IDF continues the ongoing effort to degrade the Iranian regime’s military capabilities and will persist in its efforts to ensure the security of the State of Israel.” The strikes mark a significant escalation in the Israel-Iran conflict, with potential ramifications for regional stability and Iran’s internal dynamics.
