An extremely unusual case: A senior Israeli official who worked in the Mossad and was previously investigated in the "Qatar-Gate" affair participated in hostage release negotiation team discussions at the beginning of the war, as reported this evening (Monday) on Kan News.

According to the report, the former senior official worked simultaneously with his membership in the security forum for the Qataris. Other members of the negotiation team who were present in the discussions did not know about his business connections with Qatar. That same senior official served in some of the closed discussions as a Mossad representative and even presented the organization's position to the various members in the security discussion.

The former senior official claimed that he reported his connections with Qatar to the Mossad and the IDF, but on the other hand, the Mossad claimed they didn't know that the same senior official served as an advisor to Qatar while simultaneously sitting on the negotiation team.

According to a report published about a month ago on Channel 13, Major General Polly Mordechai, who previously served as Coordinator of Government Operations in the Territories and IDF spokesperson, was interrogated under caution by police on suspicion of contact with a foreign agent and transferring money through his company to the Prime Minister's advisors for a campaign in Qatar.

It should be recalled that Maj. Gen. (Res.) Yoav Mordechai held an official and prominent position in the Hostages Administration that operated in the last war under the leadership of Major General Nitzan Alon.

In response, Novard company (owned by Mordechai) stated: "Novard has worked for years with various countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, officially, publicly, and completely legally. Since October 7th, Polly Mordechai was recruited to reserves to advance the return of the hostages. He is not involved in any business activity and there is complete separation between Novard's activities in Middle Eastern countries and him."
