Macron Celebrates: ‘We’ve Created Momentum for a Palestinian State’
French president welcomes Australia’s announcement to recognize Palestine at the UN in September, credits French-led diplomatic push.

French President Emmanuel Macron hailed Australia’s decision to support the recognition of a Palestinian state at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly in September, claiming it as part of a diplomatic momentum led by France.
In an official statement, Macron said: “I welcome the Australian Prime Minister’s decision to join the momentum we created in New York for the recognition of a Palestinian state, which already has the support of countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, and Portugal.”
He continued: “This step reflects our commitment to the two-state solution and to building a shared political path, without which there can be no peace and security for all.”
Since the outbreak of the war, Macron has emerged as one of the leading voices in the Western world promoting the Palestinian cause, working in close cooperation with Saudi and Arab partners.
Following Australia’s announcement, New Zealand also stated it would consider recognizing a Palestinian state by September if “conditions on the ground do not improve.”
